Our fearless leader here at CIR, Gusto Dave Jackson,
came up with an idea to feature upcoming blog posts on a pseudo-magazine cover.
Because I do graphic arts and cover
design for TWB Press, he came to me with his idea, to see if I could make it a reality.
We tossed some ideas back and forth, and then he gave me the responsibility of
making it happen. Thanks a lot, Dave.
First, I had to come up with a title for our
magazine. I thought about what happened when one actually chiseled rocks, and
how doing so created chips of rock, and being that this magazine cover would
tout upcoming titles, in a sense, chips of what was inside, Chiseled in Rock
Chips seemed most adequate.
Here’s the plan. Sometime after the middle of each
month, CIR bloggers will send me titles of what they plan to offer during the
upcoming month. I’ll select a cover photo, which I’ll buy the rights to use so
we don’t get busted for copyright infringement, add a few titles to it, and
post it on the CIR blog panel. Granted, it’s small, and on some computer
screens, it may be tough to read, if not impossible, so I may end up linking it
to Web page with a larger image. I’d
rather not pull a visitor away from the blog to accomplish this, but instead,
try to make the type and fonts on the cover as large as esthetically possible.
The determining factor will be your input on this matter. If you can’t read it,
let me know in the comments section.
We’ll also upload the Chiseled in Rock Chips cover
on our RMFW Facebook page, and I plan to include it on our Web site’s home
page, as CIR is the official blog of the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers. We’ll
probably come up with more ways to use the cover to publicize RMFW, CIR, and
the authors who make this all happen. Your suggestions are welcome, as well.
So with any luck, toward the end of each month, you’ll
see a new magazine cover graphic up on Chiseled in Rock. Who knows, you might
see something there you can’t live without reading.

This is a cute idea and certainly eye-catching. Instead of buying images, Terry can be on every cover like Oprah is on O Magazine. (I'd love to see what you do with that suggestion.) Thanks for all you do to provide valuable information in an easy-to-read format.
I love it! Creative ways of interacting with the readers always excite me :D
Beautiful cover. I suspect Writer's Digest will be coming to you for your services soon!
