So a guy in Florida fills up his shopping cart with eight of these particular boxes of Tide and just walks out of the store. Security tried to stop him, but most retail chains enforce policy onto their “protection” officers not to touch shoplifters. Following procedure, the security guard called the authorities. After the police officers listened to the guy’s side of it, they allowed him to go.
It just goes to show that companies are so used to lying, so desperate to throw any word on a product to persuade you to buy it, and are so far removed from reality that they don’t know what words mean anymore. The product has different wording on it now. Whereas I’m sure that the makers chalked the label up as a mistake, I bet the marketing executive who came up with the “free” thing now has lots of “free” time on their hands.

Funny Dave. I remember a number of years ago that a local car dealership offered to sell a car for so many bananas. Someone showed up with those bananas and the car dealership had to honor the sale. LOL

That's pretty funny, and I can see why they might let the guy walk...but hopefully he didn't get to keep the detergent. I don't believe for a minute he thought that soap was free.
Eagle, I thought the same thing, too. The only thing I can figure is it was apathy on some employees part.

I love the whole semantic spin on things. It's so weird though that the cops let him walk, are you sure it really really happened? Where's you find it?
