But one thing I do know is book publishing! Branding yourself is key, so as mentioned above definitely take advantage of all social media and digital opportunities. In most cases they are cheaper and able to reach a large amount of people. Also, doing research on your target market is helpful—find out where they hang out, what they’re buying, what social networks they’re on, who their favorite musicians are and try to incorporate that into your books or promotional efforts. For example: if your market loves slogans, giving your character a catchy slogan in one of your books and using that as a marketing tool would be really smart. You can go a step further by creating apparel or tchotkes with this slogan.

Hope this helps!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2582274004296638852.post-70309487139281189622011-07-11T12:08:02.419-06:002011-07-11T12:08:02.419-06:00Hi! What I’ve noticed about the paranormal, urban fantasy, and paranormal romance market it that everything is getting darker—meaning darker tones, themes and characters. This is really what’s selling! So, to answer your question there is ABSOLTELY a market for dystopian fiction in the adult market.

I hope to meet you in person in September where we could chat more about your ideas!

Thank you for your comment.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2582274004296638852.post-35664848543965523332011-07-11T11:01:56.586-06:002011-07-11T11:01:56.586-06:00Hi, Latoya! :) I'm so happy you'll be comi...Hi, Latoya! :) I'm so happy you'll be coming to the Colorado Gold in September. And thanks for visiting with us here today.

I have a question. I write dark paranormal (urban fantasy, actually) and I'm wondering how popular dystopian fiction might be in the adult market. We already know the YA market is flush with dystopian themes, but how about for the grown-ups? Inquiring minds (with dystopian novel manuscripts) want to know. :)Karen Duvallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01839711547501582977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2582274004296638852.post-24940289246913705862011-07-11T09:54:59.295-06:002011-07-11T09:54:59.295-06:00Latoya, thanks for joining us at the Rock today!
